Just a quick post to let you all know I'm back in Dallas as of 4:00pm on Friday! I didn't exactly kiss the ground, but I sure was happy to be home. I did kiss Jay. ;0)
I heard from Vicki last evening. Her cellphone is back in operation but she's still without power. I hope to hear from her today after she gets home from work. If I don't hear from her, I'll definitely call her cellphone, hoping she has it turned on.
I took photos of a few of the effects of Hur. Sandy but I've posted them on Facebook. I didn't take any photos of devastated homes as I felt that was too intrusive. On the flight back to Dallas, I sat next to a young man who worked in a gas station in North Jersey. He told me he and his boss stayed at the station 18 hours straight in order to secure the premises. No power - basically just standing guard. They were told by police to call them before opening as protection was needed.
It's truly a war zone up there. My heart goes out to friends who were evacuated only to return to nothing.
I'm off to restock the refrigerator and pantry. It's obvious Jay ate out or brought in a lot. Of course, there's laundry in my future.
