Chef Point Cafe, Watauga, Texas

Today, our "travels" took us to the thriving metropolis of Watauga, Texas.  Heck, if it was good enough for Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, it's good enough for us.  Al and Carol had been there several times and highly recommended it so we made a date to meet there for lunch.  If any of you watch DD&D, you know Guy finds some very interesting spots.  This is not an exception.  It's truly located in a WORKING Conoco Station.

Since Al and Carol had been there before and are well acquainted with Chef Franson, they knew what to order.  I'd looked at the menu online and already had my mouth set for the grilled chicken.  As soon as it was presented to me, I had to take a bite of the chicken and it was moist and absolutely perfect.  The veggies were a medley of deliciousness.

I can't remember having a better grilled chicken and I ate . . .

every bite.  Those are red potatoes marching along the top of the plate, and I didn't even taste one, but they looked good.  Al had a sample and said they were very good.

Jay, being the adventuresome eater that he is . . .

had the bacon cheeseburger and fries.  It looked absolutely wonderful and was cooked a perfect "medium" as he'd requested.  He was a tad disappointed as he said it was dry and Al, having had one in the past, concurred.

Al and Carol RAVE about the Salmon Piccata but he chose a seafood pasta dish that he'd not had before.  He said it was good, but can you really believe a Retired Delta Pilot?

Believe it or not, when asked if we would like dessert, we declined.  However, Chef Franson was two tables away visiting with friends and ordered us to stay right were we were.  One of the house specialties is Bread Pudding.  Now, I'm not a fan but when he had one sent to the table, I felt it would have been rude had I not at least tasted it.  AMAZING.  I'm sorry I didn't get a shot of it but the reason I didn't was that right behind the Bread Pudding was a serving of Apple Flakey which was steaming . . .

with a lovely scoop of vanilla ice cream oozing into it.  I tasted the apple and would have had more but am trying so hard to 'be good' and stay away from sugar.  But a truly tiny taste of each dessert surely won't cause problems.

Chef Point Cafe is expanding and will have a lot more space plus a full bar by August, our waiter said.  So, since Jay's birthday is in August, we've made plans to meet Al and Carol

We highly recommend this eatery and will more than likely go back before August.  I think Vicki might like it and I know Steve would.

Frustration Abounds

I'm suffering from severe frustration.  I had dinner with Dana and my Gal Pal Val last evening at Rockfish Grill and had one of the waiters take a photo of the three of us.  I was able to save the photos to my laptop[s] with no problem but was unable to bring any of them into Facebook.  I was using my Nikon Coolpix.  Here's the photo from last night of Dana, Val and Moi!

We had a terrific time and hopefully we'll do it more often.  Okay, so it appears that the photos upload to my blog.

This morning, I ventured outdoors with my Coolpix and took a few shots around the yard and was able to bring one of the photos into Facebook with no problem, so I thought the "issue" was just a fluke.

Our new landscape designer came by around 10:30 a.m. to get our ideas and to share his suggestions.  He's got some great ideas and I can hardly wait to see his design.  After he left, I took my big Canon outdoors and took several "before" shots.  I tried to bring one or two into Facebook and was unsuccessful.  Since I had camera issues in October, I feared the same.  I've ordered two more memory cards from Amazon just in case it was the card.  I'm so flipping glad I found this out before Vicki's and my trip.  I would have been quite the unhappy traveling companion to Vicki if I discovered the glitch on the trip to the Grand Canyon.

In any case, here are a few "before" shots of the areas we're going to redo.

So that's it.  This is pretty much just a test.  It could have been a Facebook issue but in any case, it appears my photos upload to my blog.  Now, I'm going to impose on Vicki to see if she can see this posting all right.
