I guess Mother Nature isn't a fan of the Uber Ego of Jerry Jones either, as Super Bowl week appears to have been a giant dud. First, we had a road-snarling ice storm on Tuesday, and since North Texas doesn't have ample sand [?] for the roads and the temperatures have stayed in the teens and low twenties, the ice is hanging around. I agreed to work three days a week for Brissa's maternity leave which I did last year as well, working Tuesday [office closed due to ice storm], Thursday and Friday. I foolishly went to work on Thursday, 2.3. The trip to Frisco typically takes 15 minutes. On Thursday, leaving home at 6:30 am in order to avoid the crowds, it took 30 minutes. The North Dallas Tollway didn't appear to have been sanded at all and it was 30 mph all the way up. I didn't enjoy the trip up in the dark, so decided to leave work early. I left at 4:10 pm and arrived in our driveway at 5:45 pm. I settled down after a rather large Cosmo.
A 'light dusting' of snow had been forecast for late Thursday night into Friday morning. I awoke around 2:10 am to powder my nose, saw the snow coming down really hard, so I turned off my alarm, having decided NOT to go into the office. The 'light dusting' amounted to over six inches and right now, at nearly 10:30 am on Friday morning, it's still coming down. It's awfully pretty and I forgot there was ice beneath the snow, so on my unsuccessful hunt for the morning newspaper, I stepped onto the driveway and did a lovely [maybe not so much] fall, landing on all fours. The heck with the paper!
So, the office decided to open late - without me and a bunch of other folks who have good sense. Thankfully, the yarn I ordered online last week arrived on Wednesday. So, I'll be working on my crocheting project while watching a movie or two today. Also thankfully, I'd made three different types of soup - cabbage, Asian veggie and Taco - and froze individual portions so we're set for a heart [and hopefully bone] warming lunch.

In spite of all this, we're very fortunate not to have suffered any rolling blackouts that many friends did. My family and friends in the Northeast have been suffering with this kind of weather for over a month and do it with dignity and grace, but here in North Texas, life comes to a standstill.
While I am definitely NOT a fan of the heat, I could use a little warmup. Enjoy the Super Bow on Sunday. Packers or Steelers? Well, since I was born in Pennsylvania, I'm going to have to say Steelers!
Stay warm and be safe.
